Taffy Howard voted against
south dakota house bill 1099
President Trump and South Dakota's veterans needed a yes vote. They didn't get one from Taffy Howard.
House Bill 1099 was straightforward: ensure South Dakota veterans suffering from PTSD and treatment-resistant depression could access FDA-approved treatments without bureaucratic delay. Veterans advocacy groups came to Pierre to testify in support. The Trump administration backed faster access to these breakthrough therapies. Governor Rhoden signed it into law.
Taffy Howard voted no.
The bill passed the SD House 58-7. It cleared the Senate 21-12. Bipartisan. Pro-veteran. Pro-Trump. And Taffy Howard stood against it.
South Dakota's combat veterans have a suicide rate higher than the general population. This bill was about giving them access to clinically proven relief. Taffy Howard said no.
District 34 deserves a senator who stands with our veterans and our president when it matters. Taffy Howard had her chance. She chose wrong.
